Properly cared for, your Montague
Gower Furniture will give a lifetime of pleasure.
What is the best way to Care
for your furniture?
- Dust regularly and use a soft cloth to apply a good
quality wax polish. (avoid using
polish that contains silicone as these
could have a detrimental effect on the lacquer and veneers!).
- Take reasonable precautions
to protect the finish such as using place mats
- Your furniture should also be kept away from excess sunlight,
dampness, heat and cold.
- Spills should be removed Immediately.
- Metal handles and castors should not be polished with metal or
brass polish as they have been lacquered to retain their appearance. A
damp cloth and then a dry duster to polish is all that is required.
- Do not place rubber or vinyl objects directly on the surfaces
as they may cause a chemical reaction, damaging the finish.
Our
products are finished in modern lacquers which are far more durable
than old fashioned French polish.
The
Best Way to Dust your Furniture
Regular dusting of all your
furniture is recommended to keep dust from accumulating. Should
dust accumulate use a soft,
lint-free cotton cloth such as an old t-shirt. Very
lightly dampen (NEVER wet) the cloth with water. NEVER use a dry
cloth since it will grind the dust into the finish causing
scratches.
What is the best way to get rid of white rings or watermarks on
my wood furniture?
It
is possible to repair watermarks, we however advise
enlisting the services of an expert such as a french
polisher. Please do not attempt this delicate job yourself.
